Fabulous Peonies !
Lucky me - Guest blogger again
Sharon Lean of Chic Bride asked me to be a guest blogger again - the article I wrote is below:
How lucky is the bride who marries at the end of May – it is the
end of Spring and beginning of Summer and the choice of flowers for
your wedding is endless. The blues, whites and yellows of Spring give
way to the pastel pinks, delicate and bright yellows, perfect peaches,
and luscious lavenders as well as oranges, reds and classic green and
white – every colourway shouts ‘here comes summer’! The flower world
is your oyster !!! Peonies, roses, freesia, cornflowers, nigella,
astrantia, astillbe, delphiniums, larkspur, hydrangeas – the choice is
fantastic and you should have hours of fun in choosing your wedding
flowers. Think about fresh summer flowers for your hair too by having
a fresh flower circlet for you and the bridesmaids as well as pretty
daisy chains for flower girls, as well as fabulous bouquets and posies –
there is nothing prettier for a Summer country wedding and of course
there will be plenty of roses available for your rose petal baskets.
Start a mood board as soon as you have your bridesmaids colour and you will soon know what shades of flowers will look good for you. Take this with you to your florist as well as a picture of your dress and a good florist will be able to advise you what flowers will look right for your theme. Most important of all is to have a budget for your florist to work to. They can then advise you what flowers will work and what arrangements your budget will cover – remember that potted herbs and lavender (which will be in full flow in summer) can look great as table decorations and these can be given away as gifts for your guests after the reception. Single blooms of many varieties in different glass containers (bottles etc) are very effective and again budget conscious. Vintage, summer tea party, seaside or country house chic – Summer will supply you with beautiful flowers whatever your budget and perfume your wedding for a day to remember – for you and your guests – enjoy every minute of your special day - and most of all – have fun planning !!!

Sharon runs a fantastic wedding planning service and I love writing articles for her well read blog. Although the weather is still not settled - Summer is on it's way - you only have to look at the flowers in the pictures !!

The bride met me this morning, all smiles and with a cup of tea for me (and my helper), (wasn't that just so thoughtful), all calm and collected and we had the bouquet holding session which she got the hang of immediately. It's so important for the photographs for the bride and bridesmaids to hold the bouquet correctly - not too high and slightly tilted. The perfume from these lily of the valley was sensational and the little brodea looked so delicate no wonder the bride's Mum had a little tear. It is going to be a beautiful wedding - even the sun has popped out - perfect.

| Celtic Buttonhole |
Very excited about this weekend's wedding for Kirsten and Tavis - I did a trial buttonhole today after collecting the beautiful flowers for this Celtic/Medieval wedding - my new workshop was the perfect place to work this morning. I do think that at last I have it set-up right - so important to have the right surroundings when working. Hope the weather holds for Saturday !!
